At Femme Incroyable, we’ve witnessed countless women undergo transformative experiences through our professional mentoring programme. One such inspiring journey is that of Elisa, a participant in the second edition of our Professional Mentoring Programme, which ran from 1st April to 15th June 2023. At the time, Elisa was in her final year of law school and looking ahead to her future career. Her motivation for joining the programme was clear: “I’m finishing my degree and plan to start working as soon as I graduate. I thought it would be wise to seek a mentor who could guide me in my professional life to prepare me for any challenges that might come my way.”
Learning to Believe in Herself
Elisa’s experience as a mentee was transformative. When asked about the most important lesson she learned during the programme, she said: “I learned to trust myself more, to believe in myself and in the potential I have. I learned to see the real person that I am.” This newfound self-confidence was a significant shift for Elisa, who had previously struggled with self-doubt. The mentoring process helped her to recognise her strengths and capabilities, providing her with a strong foundation as she prepares to enter the legal profession.
A Boost in Self-Esteem
In addition to professional growth, the mentoring programme had a profound impact on Elisa’s self-esteem. “It influenced me a lot because I was very insecure, especially about my body. Through conversations with my mentor, I began to realise that I am beautiful just the way I am. I am very intelligent, and I can achieve many things.” This transformation in how Elisa viewed herself was one of the most rewarding aspects of her journey. The programme not only equipped her with practical skills but also empowered her to embrace her true worth.
Overcoming Obstacles
Elisa’s path was not without its challenges. Early on, she faced significant obstacles that almost caused her to quit.
“At first, I wanted to give up right away. I had to travel because my mother fell ill, and then I also got sick. But, thanks to God and my mentor, I didn’t give up, and I finished the programme”.
Her determination to persevere, despite these personal difficulties, is a testament to her resilience and the vital support she received from her mentor.
A Journey of Growth
Elisa’s story is a powerful example of how mentoring can shape not just careers but lives. Through the Femme Incroyable Professional Mentoring Programme, she gained the confidence and self-assurance needed to face the future with optimism and strength.
